Built by the Community, For the Community
Fix It With Piggy started with a simple belief: everyone deserves access to technology and the skills to use it. What began as a small repair shop has grown into a comprehensive tech hub transforming lives across the Bronx.

A Vision Born from Necessity
Fix It With Piggy did not begin as a tech company or a classroom. It began as a promise.
Before Fix It With Piggy, I worked in phone stores, repairing devices and helping customers every day. Later, I shifted into a job at the New York State DMV, believing I had finally found what so many people are told to chase—a secure position with steady pay and stability. But that sense of security vanished when I was denied time off for my son's surgery. He was only four months old.
I made a decision at that moment that would change everything: I quit. I promised myself I would never again allow anyone to dictate how I show up for my children.
To keep a roof over my family's head, I began fixing phones from home. When COVID-19 hit, I adapted—offering pickup and drop-off repair services so people could stay connected during a time when technology became a lifeline. What started as survival quickly became something more.
Eventually, I opened a brick-and-mortar repair shop in Throggs Neck on East Tremont, providing affordable tech repair services to the community. On weekends, neighborhood children began coming into the shop—curious, observant, eager to learn. I started teaching them tech skills for free. Those moments—explaining how devices work, watching kids light up when they fixed something themselves—were when I felt most aligned and most fulfilled.
That's when I knew my heart was in education.
In 2025, Fix It With Piggy officially became the Bronx's first full-service community tech hub, bringing together tech education, workforce development, and tech support under one roof. Alongside our youth programs—where middle and high school scholars learn hardware repair, web development, and digital literacy—we expanded to serve adults through workforce certification programs in partnership with Grow with Google, offering training in IT Support and Project Management.
Our scholars earn certificates, build portfolios, receive devices, and—most importantly—gain confidence. Confidence that technology is not something that happens to them, but something they can understand, repair, and build.
Every student who fixes their first device, every adult who earns their first certification, and every family who walks into our space and feels welcomed reminds us why this work matters. Fix It With Piggy exists because our community is brilliant, resilient, and worthy of investment.
This is our story so far—and we are just getting started.

"Class is great! I had so much fun. Repairing devices is not my thing. Ms. Ashonda's class was so much more than that. Because of the class I realized I am more interested in building the programs ran on electronics. She helped me get signed up for coding and program engineering in college. I am 19."
"Repair class is amazing! I help Ms. Ashonda in class by helping other students when they need it. I took her class twice so I can help a lot for her. I am 12."
